1. Connect Your Stripe Account

Before you can receive contributions, you must link your bank via Stripe Connect:

  1. Log in to your Marriage Gift List dashboard.
  2. Click “Connect Stripe Account” (you’ll find it under Payments or in your profile menu).
  3. You’ll be redirected to Stripe’s secure onboarding page.
  4. Enter your personal details and bank account information.
  5. Click “Authorize”, then return to Marriage Gift List.
  6. You’ll see a confirmation “Stripe account connected”

2. Open the “Add a Gift” Modal

  1. From your dashboard or gift list page, click the “Add a gift” button.
  2. In the modal header, switch to the “Cash Gifts” tab.

3. Name Your Cash Fund

  1. In the “Name of cash gift” field, enter a clear, engaging title: e.g. “Honeymoon Snorkelling Adventure” or “New Home Essentials Fund.”
  2. This helps guests know exactly what they’re contributing toward.

4. (Optional) Set a Goal

  1. Enter a target amount if you’d like guests to see progress (e.g. £1,500).
  2. Leave it blank to keep contributions private, only you’ll see the total.

5. Add an Image and Message

  1. Upload a photo that represents your fund (honeymoon beach, kitchen wish list, etc.).
  2. Write a short note explaining what the fund is for or to thank guests in advance.

6. Save Your Cash Fund

  1. Click "Add to List”
  2. Your cash gift now appears on your public gift list, marked “Cash Fund” with the name and (if set) your goal.

7. What Guests See

When a guest clicks your cash fund on the live list, they’ll:

  1. See your fund name, image, and message.
  2. Enter the amount they wish to contribute.
  3. They’ll leave you a message and contact details so you can say thanks.
  4. Then they are taken to a secure Stripe Checkout page (no account needed).

Tips for your Cash Fund

  1. Be descriptive: A personal story or vivid image makes guests more excited to help.
  2. Keep it flexible: If privacy matters, skip the goal; contributions stay hidden from other guests.
  3. Say thanks: The Thank You Manager keeps track of everything your guests contribute, making it easy to say thank you.
