Purchasing a gift for the happy couple
Marriage Gift List lets you create a wedding gift list with items from any online store. Simply copy and paste a product link to add a gift, then personalise your list and share it with your guests.
When a guest chooses a gift, they buy it directly from the retailer's website, not through us. After completing their purchase, they return to your list and mark the gift as purchased to help avoid duplicates.
You can also add cash gifts, such as a honeymoon fund or contributions towards your home, if you would like guests to give money instead of buying a physical item.
Marriage Gift List is designed to be flexible, transparent and easy to use. You are not limited to a small group of partner stores, so you can add gifts from almost any online retailer.
Creating and managing your list is free for physical gifts, and your guests pay the same price shown by the retailer. There are no subscriptions, no hosting fees and no markups added to item prices.
It is a simple way to build a gift list around what you actually want, rather than what a traditional registry decides to offer.
No. Creating and managing a gift list with physical gifts is completely free.
Your guests buy those gifts directly from the retailer, and they pay the price shown on that retailer's website. We do not add markups, subscriptions or hosting fees.
If you add cash gifts, a small 3.5% fee applies to each contribution. This covers secure card processing by Stripe and the running of the platform. Any fees are shown clearly before they apply.
You can add gifts from almost any online store. Just copy and paste the product page link into Marriage Gift List and we will do our best to pull through the item details for you.
This gives you much more freedom than a traditional registry, where you are usually limited to a fixed range of stores or products.
Yes. You can add cash gifts for things like your honeymoon, home improvements, future plans or any other goal you would like guests to contribute towards.
You can create one cash gift or several and name them however you like.
You create a cash gift on your list, such as a honeymoon fund or new kitchen fund, and guests can contribute any amount they choose using a secure card payment.
Cash gifts work a bit like crowdfunding. Guests do not need to cover the full amount themselves, so multiple people can contribute towards the same goal.
A small 3.5% fee applies to each contribution to cover secure payment processing by Stripe and the running of the platform.
When you set up a cash gift, you will be asked to securely connect your bank account through Stripe.
Once guests begin contributing, the money is paid out to your bank account on a monthly basis. Amounts shown in your payouts area reflect what you will actually receive after fees have been deducted.
Yes. Guests can contribute any amount they like towards a cash gift. There is no fixed amount they have to give.
You can also set a target for a fund if you want to show what you are hoping to raise, or leave it open-ended if you prefer.
That is up to you. You can choose whether to show gift progress and contribution totals on your list.
Some couples like guests to see the progress towards a goal, while others prefer to keep that information private.
Yes. If you would prefer not to receive gift purchase notifications, you can turn them off in your notifications settings.
This is helpful if you would rather keep gifts as a surprise until the big day.
The Thank You Manager helps you keep track of which guests have bought gifts, what they chose and whether you have sent them a thank-you card.
It is a simple way to stay organised after your wedding, especially if you want to keep notes, messages and addresses all in one place.
We do our best to pull through the product title, image and price automatically, but some retailer websites make this harder than others.
If any information is missing, you can usually fill it in yourself. For example, you can type in the title or price manually, and upload an image if one was not found.
Yes. You can delete your account at any time from your settings page.
Please note that deleting your account is permanent. Your list, guest information and associated data will be removed, so make sure you are certain before going ahead.
No, your gift list does not automatically expire.
If you no longer want guests to view it, you can hide your list or delete your account completely if you would prefer to remove it permanently.
Guests buy physical gifts directly from the retailer, so delivery depends on the option you choose for your list.
You can ask guests to send gifts to your chosen address, or you can let them bring gifts to your wedding instead. The guest completes the purchase with the retailer and follows the delivery instructions shown on your list.
This is uncommon, but it can happen if a guest buys a gift and forgets to return to the list to mark it as purchased.
If the same item is bought twice, we recommend contacting the guests involved and asking whether one of them would be happy to return the gift to the retailer and choose something else instead.
If a gift has not arrived, the first step is to check your Thank You Manager to see which guest marked it as purchased.
Because the order is placed directly with the retailer, the purchase agreement is between the guest and that retailer. We recommend contacting the guest politely to ask whether they have any delivery updates or tracking information.
Marriage Gift List does not handle the purchase or shipping of physical gifts, so we are not able to intervene in retailer delivery issues directly.
Browse the couple's gift list and click on the item you would like to buy. You will see a button to visit the retailer's website.
Complete your purchase on the retailer's site as normal. Once you have finished, return to the gift list and mark the gift as purchased so others know it has been taken.
Marriage Gift List does not sell the items itself. It simply helps couples organise their gift list.
When you choose a gift, you are taken to the retailer's website to complete your purchase securely. This means you are buying directly from the store that sells the product.
Go back to the gift on the couple's list and click on it again. You will see an option to "mark as purchased".
Fill in the short form to confirm your purchase. This helps prevent duplicate gifts and lets the couple know who to thank.
The couple's preferred delivery address will usually be shown on their gift list or within the gift details.
Simply use this address when checking out on the retailer's website. If no address is shown, you may wish to contact the couple directly.
Yes. If you would prefer to give the gift in person, you can have it delivered to your own address instead.
You can then bring it with you to the wedding or celebration.
Yes. If the couple has added a cash gift, you can contribute any amount you like.
Simply select the cash gift, enter your amount and message, and complete the payment securely using your card. The money goes directly to the couple.
If you marked a gift as purchased by mistake, check your email for a confirmation message from us. This includes a link to undo your selection.
If you cannot find the email, feel free to contact us and we can help correct it.
If there is a problem with your order, such as delivery delays, damage or returns, you will need to contact the retailer you purchased the item from.
Marriage Gift List does not handle payments or shipping for physical gifts, so the retailer is best placed to help resolve any issues.
